Team Cat Fly participated in the Asheville 48 Hour Film Project once again, and produced 5%, a sci-fi short film about a girl who experiences a brain injury, and uses her memory insurance. Our competition required three elements that all teams must incorporate into the film: 1) character: Brad or Brianna Pasteur, Insurance Agent, 2) line: “You forgot something.”, and 3) prop: a dollar bill. You will find that these elements highly informed the plot of our film.
5% starred Cat Wityk, Jeff Alexander, Josh Payne, Dana Seals, and Daniel Ballard as Brad Pasteur, Insurance Agent. Our team included Madeleine Richardson (Writer / Director), Brittany Jackson (Dir. of Photography), Sam Shumate (1st AC / Color Correction), myself Ted Kendrick (Writer / Producer), with Laura Hackett (Writer), Mark Sundara (Locations Manager / Producer), Kenny Stempien (Sound Recordist), Rachel Summers (Art Director), Kat Skinner (PA), Hamish Horton (Editor), Galen Stickels (Soundtrack Composer), and Ted Marks (Sound Engineer).

Special thanks to locations AC Hotel, Asheville Pinball Museum, Battery Park Book Exchange, the Flatiron Building, and World Coffee, as well as Asheville School of Film, The Actor’s Center, Cory the Gardener, dUMB, Takeout Central, and The Joes, just for being awesome. The Asheville 48HFP awards ceremony will be held on July 11th at the Fine Arts Theater, and I don’t mean to boast, but Cat Fly expects a few award nominations because our movie was just that good.
